What you'll do

Collaborate closely with fellow engineers to design and implement new functionality aligned with product objectives and requirements.
Plan and coordinate feature improvements and technical enhancements that span large parts of the platform, including bug fixes and refactors.
continually learn and expand your knowledge of our platform technologies, increasing versatility across backend services and APIs.
Extend APIs and business logic; write or revise customer-facing API documentation as needed.
Partner with the infrastructure team to build highly-available, performant, and well-instrumented backend services that scale in customer environments.
Support operations and infrastructure teams for issue resolution in production environments.

Required skills and experience

We are seeking a highly capable senior Ruby on Rails engineer with a strong foundation in backend systems and API design. You should have practical experience building systems in Ruby on Rails and at least 6 years of industry experience or equivalent. You will contribute to the design, implementation, evolution, and maintenance of backend APIs, and work with a mix of relational and non-relational databases. Familiarity with TypeScript or a similar strongly-typed language, as well as CI/CD pipelines and automated tests, is essential. You should be comfortable working in service-based architectures and Rails monoliths, writing clean code, and delivering high-quality improvements through well-scoped, automated tests. Excellent communication skills and the ability to break down complex work into manageable pieces are required. A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is preferred.

Nice-to-have

Bonus points for experience with Node.js and React, familiarity with Nest.js and/or GraphQL, and experience in retail or fuel & convenience industries. Experience working in distributed teams.
